I received two knitted knockers and am grateful for the work these knitters do. I ordered size B and received a pink one and a beige one, each a different size. They are shaped like a soft ball – very round. Mine were unfinished in the back and this worked well for me because I took some stuffing out of the larger one and I was able to shape each of the forms into something that fit me. These do tend to move around inside the bra (they want to crawl up your neck) so I use double sided tape to secure mine into place. I like that they are light weight and breathable – not like the heavy, sweaty plastic one I had before. Thank you ladies!
I ordered early as I was scared of going back to work after a bilateral mastectomy and the order form said up to 4 weeks. I haven’t had my mastectomy yet (will happen in 1 week) but the relief I felt when I opened my mail box and found these today brought tears to my eyes…
I knit and once I get on the road to recovery and the stress has lessened somewhat, I’ll be making more – for me and to donate to give that feeling of relief/comfort to another woman who needs it.

I have received my beautiful pair of knitted knockers that we’re lovingly knitted by Shirley. They are so beautifully knit and very soft. I love them. Since I don’t know Shirley’s last name, thank you to all the volunteers who contribute their time and talents to help women who are trying to return to a life of normalcy following such a devastating diagnosis. Long before I requested them, I learned about knitted knockers in the course of doing research on my own breast cancer. Barbara’s story was so inspiring to me. Right then and there, I decided that I would try to make my own contribution to this worthy cause. I can crochet them easily, but I want to learn how to knit them also. I have shown them to my radiation oncology nurse. She did not know about them. I left one with her to show her other patients.
Thank you so much for my knitted knockers -only received this morning but I have already tried out the aqua one and felt much more confident in my costume! Just put the normal one in and it feels so light and soft – having had 631g removed in a major excision I have struggled with the weight and heat of a silicone prosthesis. Thankyou so much for my knitted knockers which arrived this morning,I immediately replaced the softees given by the hospital and was even more comfortable.Thankyou to Doryn for the careful knitting and the love and care which into wrapping them like the gift they are .
I was diagnosed 2/7/2011, my youngest daughter’s birthday. I am the youngest of seven, and my mother was diagnosed in 1988. I had to have two lumpectomies before the decision to have a mastectomy. The first prosthetic was very heavy, and it appeared as if it didn’t fit, due to the way my shirt, and blouse fit. The second prosthetic was somewhat the same. The prosthetic I currently have, is larger, so much heavier, and I sweat so much more. I am excited about having something light weight, and breathable.
I had a double mastectomy on June 24th and today, July 22, I am wearing my Knitted Knockers in a Coobie bra! It is the first time since my surgery that I feel okay and good about myself. I am not having reconstruction for multiple reasons, but I feel whole agin with these on. Thank you so much!!!
Today, I went for my annual Mammogram and noticed a basket of hand made breasts, curious I picked one up and thought I would try it in my bra. WOW! after almost twelve years of feeling ugly and having one breast three inches smaller than the other because of Cancer I can now look in the mirror and not feel ugly. Thank you to Rachael for knitting my new lovely breast prosthetic. I am over the moon.
I am so grateful to Sara, who so kindly made my knitted knocker it is so soft and comfortable to wear and so light in weight compared to the silicone prosthesis supplied by the hospital. I feel comfortable and happy again…..thank you xx
